Google has mentioned that the firm is testing a new system for YouTube which will reduce the notifications received by the users from the subscribed channels that have minimal watch time. User can set the notification setting to All which allows them to stay up to date with all the activities happening on their preferred channels.
Now, this becomes a pain when people keep getting notifications from the channels they don’t even watch anymore. Currently, there is only one option to tackle the problems – unsubscribe from the channels that you are not that interested in.
YouTube’s new features
As said by Google, viewers who have not engaged with a channel recently but still get push notifications will not experience the same thing at the time when the experiment is running. Nonetheless, the users will be able to see the notifications in the inbox of the YouTube application.
Now, the experiment will not hamper the YouTube channels that viewers actively engage with. And it will also not make any changes to the preferences of the user. One thing with this feature is that it will limit the reach of the creators in the YouTube App as without opening the same, the user will not see any notification if the creator is muted.
As claimed by Google, the experiment will focus on finding a solution to people get rid of notifications without having to unsubscribe the creators. And the experiment will be available for a limited number of users in the beginning which means not all YouTube users will be able to use it.
Apart from that, Google is working on more features for YouTube to take the user experience to the next level. We can expect to see a handful of features rolling out for the stable version of the app in the next few months.
