A TEXAS Roadhouse employee has revealed the crucial trick to get a steak dinner for an affordable price.
The food offering is beloved by staff but is typically unavailable to most diners.

That’s because it’s on the Kids & Ranger Meals section of the menu at the casual dining chain, which only has items for those 12 years old and under.
“Don’t hate me if a roadhouse says you can’t order the kids’ menu,” the employee, Madi (@girlswillbegirlsyay) wrote in the caption for a recent video on TikTok.
Madi added that the Texas Roadhouse location she works at typically “allows” adults to order off it anyway, but it could vary.
According to her, the best and most simple way to get around that is to make an order for pickup rather than dining in.
“You can always do take out!!” Madi wrote in response to a customer in a comment on the video.
SWEET SAVINGS
Taking that extra measure could allow space for Texas Roadhouse fans to get the steak dinner from the Kids & Ranger Meals menu — just $12.
“This is a six-ounce steak and it comes with a side and a free drink,” Madi explained while showing the platter.
Side options include fries, mashed potatoes, butter corn, or steamed vegetables.
“And it also comes with free bread, of course, and free peanuts,” Madi added.
The employee emphasized that it was “literally just $12.”
Madi’s Texas Roadhouse menu hack caught serious attention, with the clip garnering over 154,000 likes.
“Excuse me what?!” a longtime diner said in disbelief.
“I always order kids meals when I order to go,” another added.
“Immediately placed an order thank you! Was cravvving,” wrote a third.

Madi also revealed another “staff favorite” order in a separate clip that could cost just $7.50.
That would be the Mini Cheeseburgers, which also come with two miniature burgers, a side, a free drink, and the bread and peanuts.
“This is the best one on the menu,” the staffer argued.
The affordable kid’s meal options highlighted by the employee also come after Texas Roadhouse confirmed price hikes in October.
PRICING PAINS
Menu costs went up by about 0.9%, only months after a 2.2% uptick in March 2024.
CEO Jerry Morgan also confirmed the continued expansion of the Texas Roadhouse brand in 2025 with 10 additional corporate-owned restaurants.
“We remain confident that this new store growth along with our planned franchise acquisition and overall capital allocation strategy will allow us to continue to generate long-term shareholder value,” Morgan said on an earnings call at the time.
Other casual dining chains have been facing struggles recently.
On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina made waves when it filed for bankruptcy last month and confirmed the closure of around 70 locations.
Hooters also finally filed for Chapter 11 protection after weeks of speculation, with 150 locations to be sold.
