Apple’s iOS 18.4 rolled out earlier this week, and it’s causing some CarPlay problems.
According to multiple posts on Reddit and X, users are having trouble connecting to Apple’s in-car dashboard once they update to iOS 18.4. The music tab has also disappeared for some.
“I have a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid and before the music being played on CarPlay would appear on my dash as well. Since I updated to 18.4 today it no longer does it and is just blank now,” wrote one user on Reddit.
For many others, CarPlay abruptly drops its connection with the infotainment system. “I’ve got a 2023 Nissan Frontier and I’m also having issues with CarPlay since iOS 18.4. My issue was weird, everything would work fine until I wanted Siri to read a text. My phone would completely disconnect from my truck,” wrote another user on Reddit.
The bug seems to be affecting cars from multiple automakers, including Honda, Nissan, Audi, Ford, Volkswagen, and Toyota. According to a user, Volkswagen has confirmed the bug and informed customers that “Apple has to fix it.”
Apple has yet to address the issue. In the interim, Redditors have been trying workarounds. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPhone to the car has worked for some, but not for others. Some have gone back to connecting CarPlay with a UBC cable, but unfortunately, not all cars support this connection.

The bugs aside, iOS 18.4 adds a few new CarPlay features, including a third row of app icons to the app library. It also allows users in the EU to choose a default app for navigation.
