Google is making its One AI Premium plan free for all US college students. Students with a valid .edu email can sign up before June 30, 2025, and save $20 per month until spring 2026.

The offer includes access to Gemini Advanced, NotebookLM Plus, Whisk, Gemini AI assistant in Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets, and 2TB of cloud storage, which Google says will “help you study smarter.”

Some of Gemini Advanced’s standout features include Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, and Veo 2. With Deep Research, you can generate easy-to-read reports on complex topics within seconds. Gemini Live allows you to start a one-on-one voice chat with an AI model; you can open your camera, point it at stuff, and ask the AI model questions about it. Canvas can help you refine documents or code, and Veo 2 can generate videos from text prompts.

NotebookLM Plus, on the other hand, allows you to upload notes and other materials to create a study guide or generate an AI podcast. You can also use it to “make a visual mind map or generate a study guide in seconds.” A new Discover button also surfaces helpful resources.

The offer is open to those 18 and up who are US residents of the US. Students will need to reverify their enrollment by Aug. 31, have a Google Payments account with an active payment method, and subscribe through the Google Play Store. (Sorry, Apple users)

The offer “is limited to new users, users who do not currently have an active Google One subscription, and existing Google One members who are not subscribed to a higher tier plan than the one being offered,” Google says. The offer isn’t valid for users with a discounted Pixel bundle and those who got their Google One subscription through a bundle sold by a third party.

Once the offer ends next spring, subscribers will automatically be charged the standard Google One AI Premium rate, which is $20 a month, but you can cancel anytime.

Google’s promotional offer follows similar ones from OpenAI and Perplexity.
