Perplexity is an AI assistant born in 2022, halfway between a search engine and a chatbot. He is asked a question, he answers by relying on several models of artificial intelligence, such as those of Openai or Anthropic. And he doesn’t want to stay in the shadows.
Perplexity invites itself into the next Razr
The young American shoot will soon take an important step: she signed an agreement with Motorola to be preinstalled on future smartphones of the brand, including the new foldable RAZR. This partnership includes a tailor -made interface for Motorola devices, and the brand plans to highlight Perplexity in its communication. Clearly: Motorola really wants you to try it.
The assistant will be offered as an alternative to Google Gemini, already present on Motorola phones. For Perplexity, it is a pretty showcase – even if Motorola does not weigh very heavy on the market, the brand occupies a niche on the market of foldable models.
But Perplexity does not intend to stop there. After Bloombergdiscussions are underway with Samsung, the world heavyweight of the smartphone. Negotiations are still in the first exchanges, but several options are on the table: offer Perplexity as a default assistant, preinstall its application, or even put it forward in the Galaxy Store.
It will not be easy, because Samsung is already working closely with Google. Gemini is the default assistant, and the search engine is provided by Google too. But there is a precedent: in 2023, the Samsung investment fund (baptized Next) has already put money in Perplexity. And a new investment could follow.
The startup is precisely trying to raise between 500 million and $ 1 billion. If the operation is done, its valuation could increase up to 18 billion. Perplexity is not just aims at the United States. In Europe, a partnership with Deutsche Telekom is already signed for a future IA -centered phone. The idea is to allow the assistant to manage tasks without going through the usual apps, such as reserving a flight.
