AMERICANS will soon see the USPS descend into a 24 hour blackout with crucial services halted and FedEx is joining them.

As soon as consumers had to go through a blackout for Easter Sunday, another upcoming holiday promises to shut out shoppers again.

Next month, the US will be honoring Memorial Day, a chance to remember all those who were lost while serving the country.

The holiday falls on the last Monday in May, which this year is May 26.

The day is officially counted as one of the 11 federally recognized holidays, meaning key services will be disrupted.

This includes the USPS, as confirmed by AARP.

Other holidays that the USPS recognizes include Christmas, Thanksgiving and Independence day.

The USPS will still be keeping some services running, but you need to do an important thing to access them.

If you create an account online, you can still order stamps, print shipping labels, order boxes and other mail supplies, and request package pickups.

But some brick-and-mortar facilities will be closed.

Americans are advised to check with their local USPS branches on Memorial Day.

FEDEX FREEZE

The same goes for FedEx, as one of the largest delivery services in the US pauses specific services for Memorial Day.

USPS customers complain of missing checks – then they found ‘trap’ in mailbox that was used to swipe $96,000

The US Sun previously reported on the FedEx freeze, which will see services like FedEx Express be put out of use.

FedEx Freight will also not be running.

However, the official website for the delivery company confirms that some things will still be o0perational, but with a slight catch.

On May 26, the FedEx Office will be running on modified hours, while FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Logistics will be open and running as normal.

WHAT ABOUT GROCERY STORES?

There are some alternatives for Americans to use on Memorial Day as far as grocery shopping.

But some of the biggest names in the game have announced the intention to close for the holiday.

For example, Costco will to close its stores to mark Memorial Day, according to its website.

But shoppers still have some huge stores to rely on in these trying times.

Stores closed on Memorial Day

Since Memorial Day is a federal holiday, many Americans have the day off work.

While most grocery stores and retailers remain open, there are some exceptions

Costco is closing all stores for the whole day.

So is Natural Grocers, which has 168 stores across 20 states.

Postal services are also affected by the holiday.

All UPS locations will be closed.

FedEx will close many locations, while others will operate with reduced hours.

T.J. Maxx is also operating with different holiday hours that will vary by location.

Aldi will follow suit with “limited hours.”

Sam’s Club has announced that stores will shutter two hours earlier than normal at 6 pm for the upcoming holiday.

Target and Kroger will also have adjusted hours but will remain open.

Target and Walmart will both be open on Memorial Day.

Much like with federal offices, Americans are reminded to double check what their local store is doing on Memorial Day before leaving the house.

You can do this by searching for your store directly or using the store locator on the website.

Some companies that run additional services, like CVS’ pharmacy, may only be running part of its operation on Memorial Day.
