On Tuesday, China’s National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) issued 2025’s first batch of domestic and imported game licenses, including 123 domestic games and 13 imported games. Tencent’s Honor of Kings: World, an open-world role-playing game based on the hit title Honor of Kings, was among the most anticipated domestic games approved. Among the imported games, NetEase’s Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice stands out as a post-apocalyptic city-building survival mobile game adapted from the top-selling Steam title Frostpunk. Frostpunk was launched on April 24, 2018, by 11 bit studios, a Polish video game developer, while the overseas mobile version was released on iOS and Android on October 29, 2024. [NPPA, in Chinese]
