COSTCO fans have been left stunned after discovering a kitchen staple on sale at the warehouse for almost $400.

The warehouse chain’s wagyu beef loin’s hefty price tag sent shoppers into a frenzy.

A Costco customer shared the jaw-dropping find in a post on Reddit.

Posting a photo of the pricey beef joint, they asked fellow shoppers: “Are people actually buying $400 beef?”

Reddit users clashed in the comments with some defending the meat’s price while others slammed it.

One Reddit user wrote: “That’s a wonderful price for that kind of quality of beef.”

Another added: “Costco doesn’t offer what members don’t buy.”

And others praised the product as being the perfect dinner party centrepiece.

But not everyone was sold on the luxury beef.

One user wrote: “I think I am probably in the minority here, but I don’t think wagyu is worth it at any price.”

Another agreed: “Am I the only one that thinks wagyu is disappointing? I just don’t get it.”

Wagyu beef is a type of beef that is bred from a cattle native to Japan.

Costco confirms all stores will shut for 24 hours again just weeks after ‘retail blackout’

The word means “Japanese beef” with “wa” meaning Japanese and “gyu” meaning beef.

The cattle is fed for 600 days after weaning – more than double the time for other breeds.

It also doesn’t need to be hung, and marbling – the process of creating streaks of fat in the meat – is a slower process in these breeds.

As a result the beef often comes with a higher luxury price tag.

Costco has recently been called out for mislabelling the prices of its meat – as customers cash in on incredible savings.

Costco members have flooded the chain’s Reddit page, revealing the price tags on items like brisket and ribeyes.

One lucky shopper was even able to buy nearly 16lbs of pork for just 16 cents.

They wrote: “The Costco gods smiled upon me today.”

And meat isn’t the only section where shoppers can score.

A savings expert known online as The Deal Guy recently posted a video to his Facebook page detailing major discounts at Costco for April.

He mentions three deals that members can grab at Costco right now, including a vacuum, a cooler, and a sprinkler.

The cordless stick vacuum has currently been slashed to $100 – but only until April 25.

It comes with six additional attachments and a digital display.

Ninja’s 45-quart cooler was dropped to $280 while the oscillating sprinkler is priced at just $9.98.

Additionally, another member revealed a little-known “coupon book” filled with deals, but you’ll have to be quick to get the sales.

Plus, Costco fans are raving over an $11.49 dessert kit that is “next level” – it’s perfect for summer and has shoppers “drooling.”
