Google Wallet is finally adding one of the most requested features Android users have been asking for. According to a fresh APK teardown of Google Play Services, this feature could be coming soon. It will allow users to simply tap their physical card on the back of their phone to add it to Google Wallet. This eliminates the need for manual entry or struggling to align your card properly for the camera to scan.

Currently, Google Wallet gives only 2 options to the users. You can either scan your card or type everything manually. With this update, the user would soon spot a new option on the Add payment method screen called NFC-based card enrollment.

Users will simply need to tap their contactless, NFC-enabled credit or debit card on their phone, and Google Wallet will automatically pull the relevant info. For security, you’ll still need to enter the CVV code manually. Some additional verification steps may follow depending on your bank, but overall, this could be the most seamless way to add a card yet.

This feature might not work with all cards, as it’s primarily designed for EMV-compliant cards that support both chip and contactless transactions. The leaked code doesn’t reveal full compatibility details, so support may vary. It’s not live yet, but the fact that it’s appearing in the beta suggests we probably won’t have to wait too long. Hopefully, it rolls out in the stable release soon.
