Gearbox software and 2K recently announced a new release date for Borderlands 4. The game is now launched on 12 September, a few days before the original launch date. The reasoning behind moving the date is not entirely clear, but fans speculate that Grand Theft Auto 6 is involved.
Is Borderlands 4 avoiding the launch of GTA 6?
In a recent message about the PS5 breddit, Reddit user TurboStrider 27 shared a video of Randy Pitchford of Gearbox software that confirmed the new release date, as well as the upcoming state of affairs that focus on borderlands 4. Instead of sharing their excitement of the game.
The vast majority of people who have shared their thoughts speculates that they avoid GTA 6. This idea comes from the fact that both gearbox software and Rockstar games are under the reflection of Take-Two Interactive. This is also under the assumption that GTA 6 actually releases this year, although no release date has to be announced yet.
“Plot Twist, he knows the date of GTA 6 and has to move (Borderlands 4),” said a user of Reddit.
“Well, Gearbox is owned by Take-Two, the same as Rockstar, so he probably knows something,” another answered.
“My gamble is that this means that GTA will be released at the end of October, which is why Sony suddenly announced ghost from Yotei’s release date,” said another Reddit user.
This is all speculation, so take all this information with a pinch of salt. We actually do not know whether the release date of Borderlands 4 has been forced because of GTA 6. We will simply have to wait when Rockstar Games decides to announce the launch date for its highly expected Open-World game.
