Boar’s Head Provisions Co. has agreed to a $3.1 million class action settlement following a recall.
The recall of the company’s meat products is due to listeria concerns.

The settlement resolves claims that the company sold potentially contaminated meats that were later pulled from shelves in a voluntary recall last summer.
The recall, announced on July 25 and July 29, 2024, affected select Boar’s Head items sold nationwide between May 10 and August 12, 2024.
According to the company, the products were pulled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacteria that can cause severe illness.
While healthy individuals may experience only short-term symptoms, listeria can be deadly for pregnant women, newborns, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems.
Consumers quickly responded with legal action, accusing Boar’s Head of negligence.
Plaintiffs in the case allege they suffered financial harm by purchasing meat products that should not have been on the market in the first place.
Boar’s Head, a well-known deli meat and cheese brand found in grocery stores across the US, denied any wrongdoing.
Still, the company agreed to the multimillion-dollar settlement to resolve the claims.
Under the terms of the settlement, consumers who purchased recalled products can receive compensation.
Those with proof of purchase – such as a receipt or invoice showing the product, date, location, and price – can get a full refund for each item.
Households without proof can still receive a refund equal to the average retail price for up to two recalled items.
If a consumer has already received reimbursement directly from Boar’s Head, their payment from the settlement will be reduced by that amount.
To qualify, consumers must have purchased the recalled Boar’s Head meat products for personal use – not resale – during the eligible time frame.
The deadline to submit a claim is May 16, 2025.
That is also the cutoff date for those who wish to opt out of or object to the settlement.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for August 13, 2025.
Consumers are reminded that submitting a fraudulent claim is a violation of the law and harms other eligible class members.
“If you’re unsure if you qualify, please read the FAQ section of the Settlement Administrator’s website to ensure you meet all standards,” the notice states.
The settlement does not cover cheese or other Boar’s Head products unaffected by the recall.
Consumers are encouraged to gather documentation now if they intend to file a claim.
Those interested in the case can also explore other open settlements if they do not qualify.
