Few people still remember it, but in December 2021, during the Game Awards ceremony, Quantic Dream revealed what was going to become one of the most ambitious games in industry. Star Wars Eclipse was born. However, the years pass, and it is clear that no news has since been shared. So much so that many wonder if the project has not simply been aborted.
It would be tempting to think that. It is however extremely false. Star Wars Eclipse is a priori still under development. Always alive, always banana
Last February, Quantic Dream finally deigned to give us some news, without too much precision either. Guillaume de Fondeaumière, the CEO of the French studio, said that the project is advancing as planned, and is on time. In a message on LinkedIn, he explains: “We are fully committed to delivering and launching these innovative and high quality titles in the future. ”
This does not inform us much about the progress of Star Wars Eclipse. After Almost 4 years in development – At least what we know – it is likely that the title will soon arrive on the market. It is recalled that it is developed under Unreal Engine 5, a feat a few years ago, which may be so innovative than that at the end of the game, although always spectacular.
Images that are long
Everything we have to put ourselves under the tooth is the trailer ad, in CGI. Again to date, this is one of our favorite game trailers. The staging, music, and ultra photorealistic graphics transport us to a familiar galaxy, but filled with secrets and mysteries. On the content of the content, Star Wars Eclipse should be a Open world game, with a multiplayer part. A style very different from what is expected of Quantic Dream and which will release the studio from its comfort zone.
From what we know, Star Wars Eclipse will be in the era of the High Republic. It is about 200 years before the arrival of Anakin Skywalker, at a time that one could call The golden age of the Jedi. While we have been used, with the latest cinematographic games and productions, to see the Jedi particularly in difficulty, Star Wars Eclipse should transport us to a time when the latter are at the top of their glory and their power. The High Republic has nevertheless already been the subject of a few books, with the comics The High Republic #1 and novels Jedi’s light et A Test of Courage.
