ROKU users have been complaining for days about a mysterious issue impacting the video quality on their TV.

Waves of viewers have taken to the company’s forum to report “washed out” colours.

Initial cases cite problems with the Disney+ app specifically but more people have come forward claiming other popular apps including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video look bad as well.

The unexplained bug rears its head when playing HDR content.

“This issue has been going on for nearly a week with no fix or timeline on when it will be fixed,” one frustrated user wrote on Roku forum.

“This is unacceptable service.”

Another commented: “It’s frustrating because my young girls love watching Disney movies.”

A third added: “I’m surprised more people aren’t complaining, because it makes a ton of shows simply unwatchable. Was looking forward to Andor, and Tuesday night ruined.”

Meanwhile, a fourth viewer said: “After a hard day of work I just want to kick back, relax, and enjoy the convenience of having properly displayed HDR content directly on my Roku TV, but they don’t care.

“Nobody is investigating my issue. FIX THIS!”

The company responded on May 1 to say it was investigating and asked affected users to provide some additional details.

“We’re investigating the Disney Plus HDR content that was washed out after the recent update,” a rep said.

Roku reveals brand new streaming stick TV device packed with free channels

“We appreciate your cooperation, and we’ll keep you posted.”

It comes just days after Roku revealed brand new streaming devices.

The Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick Plus were unveiled as a successor to the existing Roku Express and Roku Express 4K gadgets, promising “more features at the same affordable price points”.

Cheapest of the two is the Roku Streaming Stick at £29.99 / $29.99, costing less than Amazon’s equivalent, the Fire TV Stick HD which currently retails for £39.99 / $34.99.

This entry-level HD model has some key changes, such as improved Wi-Fi connectivity so you’re less likely to have buffering issues that interrupt your favourite shows.

And for the first time at this price point for Roku you’ll get a voice-enabled remote control too so you can easily find content faster, as well as change the volume and power on the TV.

FREE STREAMING APPS FOR ROKU

Fed up with ever increasingly streaming bills?

There are plenty of free, legal streaming alternatives around these days.

Tubi is home to many big name Hollywood movies from recent years.

And Pluto TV has even more free channels with classic TV shows to watch, as well as films.

Both are available to watch instantly without any signing up.

And they’re supported by adverts to keep them free.
