Soundcore has revealed its Liberty 5 true wireless earbuds, and they’re packing high end specs at a price that will be affordable for many.
Soundcore has highlighted several improvements over the Liberty 4 earbuds, which include what Soundcore describes as it’s most advanced Adaptive ANC system and improved audio quality for the impressivly afforable price of £99.99 / $129.99 / €99.99, which puts them on par in terms of pricing with the Sony WF-C710N.
Several new features
We’ve mentioned the improved noise-cancellation and sound, but what does that mean in practice?
In terms of the ANC, there are six microphones, four of which are enabled for ANC and with support from some fancy AI algorithm, they help “identify and block outside noise”, adapting to the environment at around you at three times per second to reduce the sounds around you. Soundcore says the Liberty 5 can block people’s voices twice as effectively as older models.
To reduce noise during phone calls, all six microphones are used for clearer call quality.
The boost the audio quality, Soundcore has devised a new 9.2mm flexible wool-paper driver to recreate low bass frequencies properly. Users with Android devices can enable LDAC for higher quality sound, useful if you subscribe to services such as Tidal and Qobuz.
You can customise the sound with an 8-band EQ option in the Soundcore app, while the Liberty 5 pack the latest version of HearID that automatically tailors the sound once it susses out the strength of your hearing.
Impressive specs for affordable earbuds

Battery life is 12 hours with ANC off and 8 hours with ANC enabled. In total that’s 48 hours once you factor in the charging case.
Water resistance is IP55, which is much stronger than the usual IPX4 in terms of deflecting water and dust; while there’s Google Fast Pair for swiftly connecting to Android devices and wearing detection that automatically pauses and restarts audio when you place the earbuds out and back in your ears.
The Liberty 5 come in four colours (at least in the US), that include Cloud White, Ink Black, Abyss Blue and Rose. They’re available in the UK, US, Australia ($AU169.99) and Germany. Additionaly availability in Europe will be announced at a later day.
