Alienware is launching a series of new versatile gaming laptops under the resurrected Aurora device line.

For the first time in nearly 20 years, Alienware – which is owned by Dell – is offering Aurora laptops with the company pitching a simplified solution that’s good for work or play.

The company is looking to distinguish these Alienware Aurora 16 and Alienware 16X Aurora models from the boldly-designed Area-51 flagships by promising “strong performance within a sleek, streamlined form factor.”

The new 16X Aurora tops the bill with a 16-inch QHD+ display with up to 240Hz refresh rate and 500 nits of brightness. There’s also Nvidia G-Sync support for that smooth gaming experience.

Alienware says there are flexible GPU options, but you will be able to configure them up to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series chips with support for DLSS 4. The CPU goes all the way up to Intel Core Ultra 9 (second-gen) with up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM.

The base model, which is available from £899, offers a more modest spec sheet, and you can see the differences in the spec comparisons below.

Both models will have a pretty neat stealth mode that takes gamers from the bells and whistles and RGB-lit extravagance of a gaming machine to a work-ready state at the touch of a button, the F7 button to be precise.

The company writes in a press release: “A dedicated “Stealth Mode” button enables users to quickly transition to a quiet operating mode with reduced lighting and fan noise, catering to professional environments and extending battery life.”

Furthermore, Alienware says it has been able to achieve a more portable, backpack friendly laptop thanks to a new Cryo-Chamber cooling system that replaces the rear thermal stack.

The company says it “helps maximize airflow intake and expel heat efficiently through strategically placed vents”

Both models will be available on May 27.
