A BELOVED drug store has added a further 68 locations to its closing down list following a bankruptcy filing this month.
Sales are set to be launched as the chain continues to spiral, with more Americans being impacted than ever.

The US Sun has been reporting on the financial woes surrounding Rite Aid.
Most recently, The US Sun covered the announcement that shoppers have until June 6 to use their gift cards, coupons and rewards at Rite Aid before they expire.
The reveal came from the Pennsylvania Attorney General, who strongly advised shoppers not to waste their discounts.
He said: “I am encouraging Rite Aid customers to make returns and exchanges, and redeem gift cards and rewards points as soon as possible.
“These deadlines are approaching fast, and accrued points and gift card balances will soon become valueless.”
The US Sun also recently reported that all 178 of Rite Aid‘s locations in New York state are set to close, including all 18 on Long Island.
NEW CLOSURES
But Rite Aid has found itself in even more trouble after adding a further 68 stores to its closure list.
USA Today reports that Rite Aid‘s newest announced closures will span across seven states in the US.
These include California, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
The pharmacy chain revealed on May 5 that it had entered into bankruptcy proceedings.
It is now looking to sell all or a portion of its stores to a buyer.
It will begin plans to “initiate store closing sales” ahead of eventually closing all stores it hasn’t sold.
Rite Aid CEO Matt Schroeder said in the news release: “As we move forward, our key priorities are ensuring uninterrupted pharmacy services for our customers and preserving jobs for as many associates as possible.
“For more than 60 years, Rite Aid has been a proud provider of pharmacy services and products to our loyal customers.
“While we have continued to face financial challenges, intensified by the rapidly evolving retail and healthcare landscapes in which we operate, we are encouraged by meaningful interest from a number of potential national and regional strategic acquirors.

“As we move forward, our key priorities are ensuring uninterrupted pharmacy services for our customers and preserving jobs for as many associates as possible.
“I will be forever grateful to our thousands of associates for their commitment to Rite Aid and its mission, and I thank our entire team – from store associates to corporate employees – for their dedication to our customers and our company.
“With their support, we have played a critical role in supporting the healthcare needs of countless Americans across the communities that we are honored to serve.”
Rite Aid currently operates 1,240 stores across 15 states, but the company has stressed that it is doing everything it can to ensure a smooth process for customers.
Rite Aid also confirmed that shoppers will still be able to access pharmacy services and products in stores and online.
As the bankruptcy process continues for Rite Aid, more store closures could be announced in the coming weeks.
