FURNITURE frenzy is set to ensue after a beloved chain has confirmed it is expanding its operations in the US.

Shoppers won’t have to wait long for the first of eight new locations to open up with two ready to welcome shoppers in a matter of weeks.

Swedish furniture giant IKEA, also popular for its food items, is set to open eight new stores in the US.

The majority will open their doors this year while other areas will have to wait until 2026 to get their hands on DIY and home-decor goodies.

The exciting news comes after the chain already opened five locations in the US in 2025.

Six new stores will open in the US this year, an IKEA spokesperson told USA Today.

This is set to be followed by two more in the new year, but even more could be on the horizon.

However, not all locations will be the same.

IKEA has different store formats to suit the needs of different shoppers.

The chain has what is known as Plan and Order sites, pick-up locations, and traditional large-format stores.

IKEA says its Plan and Order points give shoppers a “personalized service” where they can “meet one-on-one with one of our planning specialists to plan and order IKEA goods” which is then delivered to them or to a nearby pick-up site.

Meanwhile, it’s pick-up locations offer “a blend of online and offline shopping” where customers can pick up items for free the day after placing an order.

Popular warehouse retailer ‘a lot better’ than Sam’s Club confirms plans to open three more new stores in just weeks

At the end of last year, it reported having 51 traditional locations, 39 pick-up sites, and 10 Plan and Order points across the US.

Now, three of the planned openings will be Plan and Order points with pick-up available and the rest will be traditional stores.

In just a few weeks time, shoppers in Cherry Hill, Pennsylvania and Beaverton, Oregon, will have access to two of the new Plan and Order pick up points which are set to open in June.

The third is scheduled to open in Hunt Valley, Maryland in July.

The final summer opening will be in San Marcos, Texas, in July that that will be a traditional large-format store.

The other two large format stores opening this year will also be in Texas.

One is coming to McAllen in October, and the other will arrive in Dallas in December just in time for Christmas shopping.

The last two traditional stores scheduled to open some time in 2026 will be in Rockwall, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona.

But, as the IKEA official said, there could be more on the way so if you’re location does not feature in this list, don’t give up hope.

Shoppers have long hailed the Swedish chain not only for it’s delicious food court meatballs, but also for it’s high quality and budget-friendly prices compared to rivals.

“My wife and I have about 80-90% of our apartment furniture from ikea, so while we are definitely biased, we also have a lot of experience putting stuff together,” one happy shopper put on Reddit.

“Its far better than the Target/Walmart/cheap-Amazon stuff that’s comparable in price.”

“I actually find IKEA’s quality to be just as a good as if not better than Crate and Barrel/CB2/West Elm/Pottery Barn,” another wrote.

“Generally speaking, I find things from IKEA to be better quality or at least the same, as what I pick up from Wayfair and Target for the same price,” a third added.

“They usually look nicer and are easier to assemble too.”

It is not only IKEA that is launching new stores across the country.

A beloved discount chain has announced it’s schedule to open 20 new sites across several states.

And a supermarket chain is opening two more locations by May 23.
