If you use Apple Maps, you’ll soon get an update that highlights high-end restaurants, hotels, and golf courses using expert recommendations.
Apple’s big partner here is Michelin, which will make it easier than ever to find a local restaurant that’s part of its famous starred ranking. The partnership also includes recommendations for Green Star restaurants, which are awarded to sustainable high-end establishments, and Bib Gourmand awarded locations, which offer high-quality food at lower prices.
Editorial content from Michelin will appear in the Apple Maps description of each restaurant. You can also filter for what it calls Michelin Distinctions to find starred locations in the area. Eventually you’ll be able to make reservations in Apple Maps.
The app now also recommends over 300 different hotels, also ranked by Michelin; those are available to book in the app now.
Apple will soon introduce content from The Infatuation and Golf Digest, which test and recommend restaurants and golf courses, respectively. Apple has confirmed it’s working on bringing in more sources, but it has yet to share what those will be.

These recommendations work across the US with other regions set to come in the future. Michelin’s restaurant guide is active in over 30 countries around the world, so expect some of those locations to be next up on the list.
If you’re more of a Google Maps user, you’re out of luck here. Someone did put together their own Google Maps tool over a year ago for Michelin-starred restaurants, but it’s unclear if the person has kept it up to date with recent changes. Otherwise, you can download the Michelin app on Android or iOS to help you find those recommendations in your city.
