The Father’s Day deals have landed, with discounts on everything from Bluetooth speakers to streaming devices to help you (or your dad) make the most of summer. And if your plans involve unwinding with a good book, well, Amazon’s latest Kindle Scribe is on sale at Amazon and Best Buy starting at just $299.99 ($100 off), which is a new low price. Both retailers are also offering $100 off the 32GB and 64GB configurations, with the former selling for $319.99 (Amazon, Best Buy) and the largest-capacity model running $349.99 (Amazon, Best Buy).

I don’t know about you, but I can’t get through a book without jotting down half-formed thoughts in the margins as I go. That’s why I like the second-gen Kindle Scribe — it’s a solid pick if you want a large e-reader that actually lets you write directly on your Kindle books. During my time with it, I appreciated how the textured display better mimics the feel of paper, making note-taking feel more natural. Recent software updates made the biggest difference, though, letting me quickly expand margins or directly mark up pages without interrupting my reading flow. I also appreciated the included stylus, which offers a helpful eraser and a customizable shortcut button.

What I also like is that the Scribe isn’t just for annotating books — it doubles as a digital notebook, complete with built-in templates for journaling, to-do lists, and other handwritten notes. Even better, new AI-powered tools let you quickly summarize your notes or clean up your handwriting with just a tap, as long as you’re connected to the internet. Both features worked surprisingly well in my experience, and since my handwriting is sometimes so messy that even I can’t decipher it, I was especially grateful for the intuitive cleanup tool.

And, of course, the Scribe shines as an e-reader. Its 300ppi display makes it easy to read, with the larger 10.2-inch screen being particularly helpful for those who wear glasses. Plus, the adjustable warm light makes nighttime reading far more comfortable. All told, it’s a convenient all-in-one device that makes reading and note-taking easy —especially if you’re already invested in Amazon’s ecosystem.
