USA Gymnastics has announced a change to laws around transgender athletes competing.
The move comes after Olympic icon Simone Biles’ public spat with Riley Gaines.

Biles has won seven Olympic gold medals on the USA Gymnastics team.
But the 28-year-old issued an apology to Gaines after a social media feud where both women were accused of bullying.
The pair argued over the participation of transgender athletes in women’s sport.
And USA Gymnastics released a statement to Fox News over it’s updated stance.
“In May, USAG removed its policy to assess compliance with the current legal landscape,” it read.
Previous policy stated that trans athletes would not require sex reassignment, legal gender recognition or hormone therapy to compete in women’s events.
That announcement was made in November 2020, but has been deleted from the USA Gymnastics website as it considers changes.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in February to ban trans athletes from women’s sports.
The trans debate reignited this week after Gaines and Biles’ feud.
Biles called Gaines “truly sick” over a social media post the former college swimmer made.
Gaines claimed that comments were turned off a post celebrating a victory.
Champlin Park High School won the Minnesota State Championship in softball with a transgender pitcher.
Biles said, “You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race. Straight up a sore loser.
“You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive or creating a new avenue where trans feel sage in sports.
“Maybe a transgender category in all sports.
“But instead you bully them.
“One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around.”
Gaines then appeared to find an old tweet from Biles in 2017 about her stance on transgender athletes.
And Gaines said, “Oop don’t you hate it when your past self completely undermines your current nonsensical argument?
“How has 2025 Simone reconciled with the fact 2017 Simone was a ‘truly sick bully’ by her own standard?”
