Reddit’s New Features Make Comments Way Easier to Use

Reddit’s latest update brings new quality-of-life improvements to the way comments work on the social media network. The new features are rolling out now, and they’re exciting for anyone who regularly comments on Reddit posts.

The big feature is Reddit will now automatically save your comments to draft if you navigate away from the page. It’ll add your comments to your drafts section of your account so you can continue them at a later date.

This is a feature many have asked for on Reddit, and it was unclear why the company didn’t previously offer drafting for comments. Reddit will let you save up to 20 drafts at a time, and they’ll stick around for two weeks before being deleted. Any attached media, such as images, won’t be saved alongside your text.

You can also now take one of your comments on a thread and turn it into a post of its own. If you think your post is particularly funny or insightful, and you want to share directly to a subreddit, you can now select Share to add it to another community.

From here, you’re able to retitle the post, add body text, and then submit. Some subreddits won’t allow these submissions, and those will appear greyed out in this menu.

Reddit also wants you to know more about how your comments are being received with new analytics tools. There’s a new upvote ratio that will give you a clearer idea of how many times your comment has been both upvoted and downvoted.

Previously, you could only see your total score which was your upvotes minus any downvotes. That meant in some scenarios it was hard to tell whether a post with a low score didn’t gain much attention, or whether it had been particularly divisive. You can also see your total replies, views, shares, and awards.

Reddit is on a roll with new features. Last week it added a new feature allowing you to hide your interactions with not safe for work (NSFW). The feature allows you to hide various subreddits from your public profile without restricting how you can interact with them.
