Sound Open Firmware 2.13 debuted today as the newest feature update to this open-source audio DSP stack started by Intel. With Sound Open Firmware 2.13 comes support for new Intel platforms and other enhancements.
Sound Open Firmware 2.13 brings initial support for Intel Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake platforms. The Panther Lake audio support with SOF is considered to be “full platform and topology support” while the Wildcat Lake support is described as “initial support with basic topology integration.”
Sound Open Firmware 2.13 also introduces NXP Essential Audio Processing (EAP) as the company’s software library for audio enhancement features.
Sound Open Firmware 2.13 also brings topology enhancements and new topologies for AMD ACP 7.0 as well as Intel Panther Lake / Wildcat Lake / Lunar Lake / Meteor Lake. There is also expanded SoundWire codec support, HIFI4 / HIFI5 optimizations, Zephy RTOS integration improvements, and a variety of other changes.
