Right off the bat, there’s the hands-free integration with Alexa which, when in use, completely gets rid of the need for the remote. Simply ask for what you want to watch and the TV will automatically bring it up, which is ideal if you’re looking for something a bit different to watch – just say, “I’m in the mood for something new” and you’ll be presented with a selection of new shows that have just debuted.
Because of its use of Quantum Dot technology, colour accuracy is superb on this set, so you always feel as though you’re getting a true-to-life depiction of the programmes that you’re watching.
What we will say is that, despite the omission of Dolby Vision IQ in other sets, it’s still great to have the feature present here as it allows the TV to optimise the picture quality based on the surrounding luminosity.
The inclusion of local dimming also helps to bolster detail and contrast within dark scenes, which is really handy in certain films and shows where a significant portion of the action takes place in the dark.
We will say that this TV is not designed with gaming in mind, as it only has one HDMI 2.1 port (the standard now for next-gen consoles) and there’s no support for 120Hz. Still, it remains a decent enough set for some casual gaming, particularly with 4K Dolby Vision gaming, VRR and ALLM.
Very few people will truly need a £1000-plus TV that’s solely built with gaming in mind, so unless you spend most of your time playing on a console, this is the TV to buy if you want smart Alexa integration without the cost.
