Meituan, China’s largest food delivery and quick commerce platform, is expanding its footprint in Saudi Arabia after entering the market in September under its overseas brand, Keeta. The company is set to launch Xiaoxiang Supermarket, its dark store model offering on-demand fulfillment, according to a report by Chinese media outlet 36Kr. The Saudi expansion of Xiaoxiang will be spearheaded by Liu Wei, a long-time Meituan veteran who has managed teams across several business units, including B2B supply chain, community group buying, and “to store” operations. The Xiaoxiang overseas expansion team in Saudi Arabia is already substantial, with more than 100 product and tech professionals, as well as dozens of business executives. [36Kr, in Chinese]
