FORD is recalling thousands of its trucks over a potentially fatal brake defect.
The company issued a recall for 2345 vehicles bought this year between March 19 and May 4.

Any customer who bought a F-250, F-350, F-450, or F-550 Super Duty model is being warned not to drive the trucks due to a major brake malfunction.
In a recall filed with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, the cars are labeled as “Do not drive.”
The issue is related to the lack of a retaining spring for the brake booster pushrod.
Due to the missing component, the brake booster pushrod can separate from the brake pedal, resulting in a loss of braking ability, as Road and Track explained.

The NHTSA filing states that the cars will experience a “sudden loss of brake function, which increases the risk of a crash.”
Anyone who owns a truck affected by the recall can bring their truck to a Ford dealership and have it inspected free of charge.
Any repairs needed will also be done free of charge.
Those with cars eligible for repairs will be notified via mail by Ford.
Until the repairs are done, Ford advises customers not to drive their trucks.
Ford’s recall comes just days after Honda recalled 260,000 vehicles.
The company recalled the cars after finding a manufacturing defect that could prevent drivers from being able to stop.
The recall affected a total of 259,033 SUVs and sedans across the Acura and Honda brands.
The popular models were all found to have issues with the brakes.
“During production, the brake pedal pivot pin may not have been staked, which may allow the pedal to shift out of position,” Honda wrote in the recall issued on June 12.
“This can result in lateral movement of the brake pedal and may lead to unintended application.
“If this occurs, the driver’s ability to safely slow or stop the vehicle could be compromised.”

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, and F-250 SD vehicles. The brake booster pushrod retaining spring may not have been installed, which can allow the pushrod to disconnect from the brake pedal and cause a sudden loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 135, “Light Vehicle Brake Systems” and 105, “Hydraulic and electric brake systems.”
Drivers being unable to slow or stop could lead to fatal injuries if not immediately fixed.
The 2021-2025 Acura TLX, 2023-2025 Acura MDX, and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot were all impacted by the recall.
Honda said that the drivers who own the vehicles will also be notified via mail.
Owners should take their car to the nearest Acura or Honda dealer so the problem can be assessed.
Any cars found to have the defect will be fixed free of charge.
