OVER 4,000 towns will now get “same day” and “next day” delivery in a massive Amazon shakeup.
The shopping giant is expanding its delivery network to offer tens of millions of new customers across the US the quick service.

In a move that is expected to transform shopping for residents living in rural communities, Amazon said online deliveries shouldn’t “depend on the zip code” their members live in.
Extending the reach of its grocery and household goods is expected to be the biggest hit among rural residents, said Jamil Ghani, Amazon’s global vice president of Amazon Prime.
Some 4,000 communities are due to benefit from the expansion giving residents access to Amazon Prime and essential everyday items like coffee pods, water bottles and batteries.
The retailer’s grocery sector made more than $100 billion in sales in the first quarter of 2025, which will likely increase following the planned expansion.
Amazon said it is investing more than $4 billion to triple the capacity of its delivery network by the end of next year.
In addition to broadening its reach to dozens of rural communities, the investment will go towards “regionalizing” its supply chain – meaning inventories will be closer to customers.
The retailer will also make even greater use of AI to ensure items in high demand are stocked and ready to go, ensuring customers never have to endure long waiting times or be faced with out-stock items.
Jamil told USA Today: “Our AI systems help us manage our inventory and put it as close as possible to the customer based on the demand that we see from those customers”.

How can you get same day and next day delivery?
The free same-day delivery service is available to Prime members who place an order over $25.
Failing this, customers are required to pay a $2.99 delivery charge.
The option is still available for non Prime members at a fee of $9.99.
This comes just in time for Amazon’s massive Prime Day sale which officially kicks off next month.
Ahead of the event the retailer has launched a wave of early offers.
