Iran restores internet connectivity after strikes

Internet connectivity has been restored in Tehran after repeated Israeli war strikes had taken it out, Iran’s communications minister said Wednesday.

“With conditions returning to normal, the state of communication access has reverted to its previous state,” Sattar Hashemi wrote in a post on X.

“I sincerely apologize to all the people, especially the communications sector and the activists of the country’s digital economy, for this imposed situation,” he added.

The restoration comes after a 12-day war between Israel and Iran. The former struck the later with bombs targeting nuclear facilities in an effort to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons. The U.S. on Saturday joined the conflict with strikes on three different sites in Iran.

Israeli officials said Iran’s top military commanders and multiple top scientists were killed in the process. Iran has attempted to respond with offensive drone attacks that were largely hindered by Israeli technology.

A tentative ceasefire reached earlier this week appeared to be holding amid battles over how successful the U.S. and Israeli strikes were in negating Iran’s nuclear capability.

President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pushed back on an early analysis from Pentagon intelligence that said the attacks may have only pushed by Iran’s capabilities by a matter of months.

The internal report found strikes of the three facilities delayed Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months, and that Iran had moved much of its enriched uranium before the strikes, according to multiple outlets.

Trump on Wednesday disputed those reports.

“If you knew about that material, it’s very hard and very dangerous to move. It’s called—many people, they call it dust— but it’s very, very heavy. It’s very, very hard to move. And they were way down. You know, they’re 30 stories down. They’re literally 30 to 35 stories down in the ground,” the president said.
