Gmail is introducing a convenient new feature to enable the user to regain control over the messy inbox where newsletters and spam promotions are the overriding factors. The Gmail web interface has started rolling out a new feature called Manage subscriptions, which allows them to see all their mailing subscriptions and unsubscribe in a few clicks.

This new feature sits under the More column of the desktop version of Gmail, between the Spam and Manage labels tabs in the left-hand menu. When you click on it you are taken to a specific page where Gmail will show you all the subscriptions you are actively holding on to newsletters and mailing lists. You can also read how frequently will each sender contacts you.

As soon as you click any of the mentioned senders, Gmail will display a list of all the mails sent to you by that supplier. There is also a “Unsubscribe” button that would take you to the next step in case you are not interested in seeing them anymore, which is just like in the promotional emails already. You only need to tap to block future mailings but Google points out that this might take without delay a few days before the sender can totally complete your request.

In case you want the quicker fix to prevent emails at that moment, Gmail also allows blocking the person who sent the messages in question, which will automatically move all their future communication to your spam box.

Although the feature is still gradually finding its way into Gmail on the web, it has existed on Android since late April. And so, when you did not see it yet on desktop, perhaps it would soon appear there.

The update is part of a series of small but welcome changes Google has been incorporating into Gmail recently, such as the recent incorporation of a Mark as read button to Android notifications and helps keep you organized and on top of your inbox.
