During practice ahead of the 2023-24 NFL season, Kelce caught a touchdown pass from Mahomes.
And a second-year linebacker, Jack Cochrane, attempted to punch the ball from Kelce, who didn’t appreciate the youngster’s decision, to say the least.
Kelce punched Cochrane in the helmet, and the pair pushed each other until cornerback Trent McDuffie stepped in to stop the fight from going any further.
The punch went viral on social media, and Kelce apologized about the incident on social media, writing on X, “Gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple.”

Mahomes didn’t have a problem with Kelce’s punch and believed it showed the team’s will to not be complacent as they looked to win their third Super Bowl in four seasons.
“I think we all have it. We have a lot of guys out here that are super competitive, but it’s about just doing it the right way,” Mahomes said.
“Trav (Travis Kelce) punching the guy, not necessarily the way you want to do it, but you love the fire.
“You love the first on both sides of the ball.”
“Trying to finish to the last second, but that’s just the type of guys we are.
“We’re going to compete, we’re going to argue on the football field, and then we’re going to love each other in the locker room.
“We have a lot of dudes that are super competitive on this team.”
The Chiefs would go on to beat the San Francisco 49ers to help them win their second straight Super Bowl title.
Andy Reid’s squad attempted a three-peat, but would fall short as they’d get dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 in February.
Kansas City will look to earn a trip to the Super Bowl for a fourth straight time.
As for Cochraine, the special teamer has continued to rep the red and gold.

The 26-year-old signed a one-year extension worth $2.1 million in April.
And the 10-time Pro Bowler Kelce will play in his 13th season in the NFL after contemplating retirement.
He is coming off a career-worst season but has reportedly shed about 25 pounds this offseason.
