Amazon’s annual three-day Prime Day sale is just around the corner, allowing Prime members exclusive access to deals across countless products.

Whether you’re eyeing up a new air fryer or perhaps it’s finally time to upgrade your mobile or PC, Prime Day 2025 will undoubtedly offer up a price cut. However, with so many discounts and deals circulating Amazon, it can be far too easy to get drawn in and start spending unnecessarily. That’s where we come in.

We’ve put together a clearcut guide on how to spot a genuinely great Prime Day deal and avoid wasting money on a dud.

Remember that to benefit from Prime Day, you will need to be a Prime member. Ahead of the start of the sale on 8th July 2025, make sure you visit our guide on how to sign up to Amazon Prime to ensure you’re ready to go.

We’ll also be doing some of the heavy lifting for you, so make sure you visit our live blog of the Prime Day deals across tonnes of categories.

Use Price Trackers

It’s easy to assume that a deal during Prime Day is a one-off or perhaps even the lowest price the product has ever been. These deals tend to add a sense of urgency to your purchase, yet more often than not the product in question has been discounted before, sometimes at an even lower price.

The easiest way to ensure you’re getting the best price is to make use of a Price Tracker, as they explicitly show you how much an item has gone for in the past. We’d recommend opting for Keepa or CamelCamelCamel, as they’re free to install and use throughout the year.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail, and that’s absolutely the case when it comes to Prime Day shopping. If there are certain products you’re holding out for a price drop, then you should add them to your Amazon wishlist tool, by clicking the heart on the product page.

Amazon will then automatically categorise any products that are part of the three-day sale event into a Prime Day deals tab too.

Check if Amazon is really the cheapest option

There’s no denying that Amazon is a convenient way to buy goods, especially with its next-day and even sometimes same-day delivery options. However, as Prime Day is such a popular sales event, many other retailers offer their own price drops on the sly too. A quick comparison ensures you aren’t missing out on an alternative bargain.

Make use of Amazon’s Prime memberships

Amazon offers a few ways to help select users save money on their Prime membership. Firstly, you can opt to pay annually which works out slightly cheaper than its monthly subscription (£95 compared to £107.88 at the time of writing).

Or, if you’re a student or aged between 18 and 22 years old, then you’re eligible to sign up to Prime for just £4.49 a mont
