A MAJOR Spanish retailer hit a milestone after it opened its 50th store in the US.
Mango opened a new store in Portland last Friday – moving ahead with its plans to open 20 locations in America this year.

The store, located in Washington Square, Portland, Oregon, is the second store in the city.
Mango opened in Pioneer Place earlier this year.
The store sells women’s clothing and has Mango’s Mediterranean-inspired “New Med” retail concept – which consists of warm tones and natural, handcrafted materials.
Daniel López, Mango’s chief expansion and franchise officer, said: “Reaching this milestone is an important achievement for the entire Mango team and reaffirms our deep commitment to our U.S. client,”
He added: “Opening our 50th company-owned store in the U.S. is a testament to the warm reception of our unique value proposition and to Mango’s ambition in the U.S.”
Mango opened its first store in Nevada and its first store in New Mexico earlier this year.
In the upcoming months, Mango will soon have a store in Illinois on North Michigan Avenue, Chicago’s main commercial street.
The company will soon open another store in California at Costa Mesa’s South Coast Plaza.
Mango was founded in Barcelona, Spain in 1984.
The fast-fashion retailer began its expansion plan in the US in May 2022.
Mango opened its flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, as well as three stores in Florida.
The company expects the US to become one of its three main markets in terms of revenue by 2026.
Meanwhile, Primark, the Ireland-based discount fashion retailer, is also planning to open more locations in the US.
Since opening its first US store in Boston in 2015, the company has gradually expanded, focusing on key cities.
Plans have been laid out to nearly double its store count by the end of 2026.
Leases have already been signed by Primark in various areas, including El Paso, Texas; Memphis, Tennessee; Hyattsville, Maryland; and Miami, Florida.
While Primark has seen major success in Ireland – where it’s known as Penneys – and across the UK, the company sees the U.S. as its next big frontier.
Kevin Tulip, president of Primark’s US operations, told CNBC the brand has reached a “maturity point” in Europe.
He said: “The US is the number one consumer market.
“So to be here and to get it right means a lot. But you really need to get it right.”
