The fourth generation of OLED tiles signed LG Display comes into production, and it was designed from the start to seduce the demanding players. Behind this technological evolution, a new structure called Primary RGB Tandem, which superimposes the layers of red, green and blue in an unprecedented way. Result: an important gain in brightness and contrast, with a peak of 1,500 nits for the first model marketed – a 27 -inch screen displaying a refresh rate of 280 Hz. Not bad!

Brighter, faster, more precise tiles

LG did not stop there. To guarantee a brilliant image whatever the lighting conditions, the manufacturer added a special film and modified the internal structure of its slab. This combination allows you to block up to 99 % of internal and external reflections, even under an ambient light of 500 lux, the equivalent of a well -lit living room. What ensure good readability even in the middle of the day, without compromise on color loyalty.

The slab has also obtained several certifications: “Perfect Black”, “Perfect Color” and “100 % Color Fidelity”, issued in particular by Ult Solutions and Intertek. LG announces a colorimetric reproduction of 99.5 %, which would make it one of the best on the market.

In parallel with this production, LG presented an even more extreme slab: an OLED screen capable of reaching a cooling rate of 540 Hz in QHD. An unprecedented frequency for OLED, which has so far been limited to 480 Hz in 1080p. To pass this CAP without losing in image quality, the company has developed a new owner algorithm and a technology called Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR).

This techno makes it possible to dynamically vary the rate of refreshment depending on the resolution: up to 720 Hz in HD. This approach gives the user’s hand to choose between sharpness of image and extreme responsiveness, depending on the game or the use.

The slab also offers a record response time of 0.03 millisecond, an essential characteristic to support these extreme refresh rates. This speed allowed LG to obtain the Clearmr 21,000 certification, the highest level of movement clarity defined by the VESA.

The mass production of this 540 Hz slab is planned for the second half of 2025, which suggests compatible screens by the end of the year or early 2026. LG visibly seeks to impose its OLED screens as references in the field of video games on PC.

The fourth generation of OLED LG, also called Meta 3 WOLED, is not content to bring more speed: it also improves energy efficiency (+20 % on a slab of 65 inches) and the purity of colors, with a brightness that can climb up to 2,100 nits.
