The Kindle that made me fall back in love with reading is even cheaper on Prime Day 3

SAVE $53: The Amazon Kindle Essentials Bundle — which includes the 2024 Kindle, fabric cover, and power adapter — is down to just $108.97 at Amazon during Prime Day. That’s 33% in savings and is less than the cost of the Kindle on its own at full price.

While most discounts haven’t fluctuated much since Prime Day began, we’ve seen a few noteworthy price drops we can’t shut up about. One of those price drops is on the 2024 Kindle — the e-reader that made me fall back in love with reading — Essentials Bundle.

As of July 10, aka day three of Prime Day 2025, you can grab the Kindle Essentials Bundle for only $108.97 instead of its $161.97 list price. That includes the 2024 Kindle, plus a fabric cover and a power adapter. Just two days ago, when Prime Day first kicked off, the bundle was $121.97, meaning you’ll save an extra $13 if you waited to pull the trigger until today. The Kindle on its own costs $109.99 at full price, so you’ll essentially be getting a charging brick and a fabric case for free. And before you ask — yes, you do need a case for your Kindle.

I’m a relatively new Kindle user, having bought the classic Kindle when it debuted last year after Mashable’s resident e-reader expert Sam Mangino convinced me to. If you’re on the fence, I can honestly say it has been a complete game-changer. There’s some sort of magic inside of a Kindle that makes you read at lightning speed and devour more books on your TBR. Between the Kindle and audiobooks, I’m on my 27th book of the year. In other words, if you have a goal to read more this year, join the Kindle cult. You won’t regret it.

While there are a handful of Kindles to choose from — many of which are on sale for Prime Day — I opted for the classic Kindle because I prioritize price above all else. There’s a reason it’s our favorite Kindle if you’re on a budget. It’s super compact and lightweight (the lightest of all Kindles, actually), comes with a generous 16GB of storage space, and costs $50 to $90 less than the next cheapest options. But of course, that price does come with a few caveats. It’s not waterproof, for one thing. So if you do most of your reading in the bath, you might want to splurge on a more expensive model. It also has no warm light, but I truly haven’t had any complaints. My eyes never feel strained from reading on the paper-like screen.

Mashable Deals

It is annoying that like most devices in 2025, it doesn’t come with a case. But that’s what makes this Prime Day bundle deal so great. You’ll get the e-reader itself, plus a charging block and a case that puts your Kindle to sleep when closed and wakes it upon opening (a great way to save your page and your battery life) all for less than the device itself normally costs.
