It’s been a while since there have been any new patches in the Wine-Staging experimental area to note. More patches though have continued working their way from Wine-Staging to upstream/mainline Wine while this weekend Wine-Staging 10.2 is out at 292 patches atop upstream Wine and containing two new patches.
Wine 10.2 released yesterday with an experimental EGL back-end for the X11 driver, support for Bluetooth Low Energy services, and other enhancements. Wine-Staging 10.2 was then sent out today for this set of 292 extra patches.
One of the new patches to Wine-Staging is for helping the bug report Multiple InstallAware based MSI installers fail with ‘Runtime error in install: Cannot open AVI’ error (Crysis Wars Trial and Patch 1.5, CodeGear RAD Studio 2007/2009). That bug report was open since 2021 due to MSI installer failures over AVI errors at run-time. Merged now in mid-2025 with Wine-Staging 10.2 is a patch to animate support AVI msvc codex within COMCTL32 to hopefully address the issue.
The other new patch is for bug report CodeGear RAD Studio 2009 fails on startup (ISAXXMLReader::putFeature method needs to support ‘normalize line breaks’ feature). Yes, for RAD Studio 2009, but the bug report itself was made all the way back in 2014. For dealing with that MSXML has now added support for the ISAXXMLReader::putFeature normalize-line-breaks option.
Aside from those new patches, an MSXML3 element properties patch was also updated. The rest of the nearly 300 patches are the same as in prior releases.
