NDAMUKONG Suh has announced his retirement from the NFL, exactly a year on from his father’s death.
Suh, a Super Bowl LV champion, has called an end on his time in the league after 13 seasons.

The 38-year-old announced his decision on Saturday, the same day that he recognised the one-year anniversary of his father’s passing.
In an emotional statement describing his dad as “my idol, my coach and my anchor”, Suh recalled how it was his father who told him it was time to hang up his cleats.
He wrote: “Every snap I took in football carried his fingerprint.
“Every time I lined up across from someone, I could hear his voice pushing me, reminding me that I wasn’t just representing myself. I was representing him, my family, my name.
“Before he passed, he gave me one final piece of advice, ‘It’s time to let football go. You’ve done everything you set out to do. Now it’s time for the next chapter.’
“That conversation stayed with me. So today, one year later, I’m honoring that wish. I’m officially retiring from the NFL.”
Suh, a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All Pro, leaves the game as a fan favourite having represented the Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, LA Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles.
Despite making the decision to step off the field, Suh isn’t going to be kicking his feet up and relaxing.

The 2010 first round draft pick will host his podcast ‘No Free Lunch’, that he hopes will help “educate, empower, and elevate others on their path to financial freedom”.
He added: “My next season is about impact, purpose, and legacy.
About helping others build wealth, lead with intention, and create lasting freedom.
“I’ve lived. I’ve learned. I’ve built. I’ve failed. I’ve succeeded. And now I want to share what I’ve learned; especially with athletes, entrepreneurs, and young people navigating life and money.
“That’s why I created the No Free Lunch podcast. It’s about real conversations, real strategy, and real education.
“Because freedom doesn’t come from fame, it comes from knowledge and how you move.
“Now I’m using my platform to serve something bigger.”
Suh made 600 career tackles and 71.5 sacks during his time in the NFL.
As well as winning the Super Bowl, Suh also earned the title of Defensive Rookie of the Year in his rookie season of 2010.
