WeChat has begun large-scale testing of a new call receiving feature for voice and video calls on its iOS app, following the release of version 8.0.55, according to Chinese media outlet IThome. The update replaces the previously used CallKit framework with Apple’s new LiveCommunicationKit interface, which was introduced in iOS 17.4, watchOS 10.4, and visionOS 1.1. LiveCommunicationKit offers developers a VoIP call interface similar to CallKit, but with key differences. While CallKit triggers full-screen pop-ups during locked screen calls, LiveCommunicationKit does not. Additionally, it does not leave call records in the iOS contacts list. [IThome, in Chinese]
