Tesla’s China-version Full Self-Driving (FSD) system emerged as the top-rated advanced driver assistance system, followed by those from a slew of domestic players, in a recent test evaluated by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV and Dongchedi, an auto service platform backed by tech giant ByteDance. “Due to laws against data export, Tesla achieved the top results in China despite having no local training data,” read a post about the news promoted by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk on social media platform X on Friday. Tesla’s Model 3 with the FSD activated did a much better job of detecting a construction barrier ahead and circumventing broken-down vehicles on Chinese highways than the other 35 tested systems, according to a video posted by CCTV and Dongchedi on Wednesday. Xpeng’s G6 crossover and the Aito M9 SUV, featuring the latest version of Huawei’s Advanced Driving system, lost some points while Xeng’s P7+ sedan and BYD’s Han plug-in hybrid were among the least reliable models, according to the two media outlets.
