Already in use by French professional bicycle teams, the aero scale is a combination of chic equipment and patented software that calculates your drag and roll resistance.

Their system integrates a patented pitot tube, a very accurate speed sensor and a unique detection detection system. Combined with their algorithms, they claim that it offers extremely precise measurements for rolling resistance (CRR) and aerodynamic resistance (CDA) with an accuracy of 0.5 watts on a Velodrome and 1 to 3 Watt outdoors, regardless of the weather or surface conditions.

The only disadvantages? It measures in short eruptions of a few minutes, you have to visit their lab and you will assess the data later.

Now the company is planning to release wasted Watts, a next generation platform that delivers that data in almost real time, so that you can make changes to your position, clothing, towing distance and more to the bike. Because why waste Watts when you can throw money and technology at it?

If you agree with us that there is only one good kind of good kind of wasted watt, you can come on their mailing list for updates. Aero scale says that the project will be launched this fall, not a word about prices or technical details, but from performances it has to push the data to a Garmin bike computer (and hopefully other brands).

Triathletes, start saving your money now.
