Sandman, Happy Gilmore, Trigger: What’s New to Watch on Netflix the Week of July 25, 2025

Every week, Netflix drops a bunch of new content for viewers to stream from TV and movie studios all over the world. Watching all of it would take you a ton of time, so I decided to start my Friday by recommending three top picks for the weekend and week to come. Schedule your viewing around these shows and movies, and I’ll be watching along with you. The final week of July sees the finale of Sandman with a special Death-centric episode, the return of Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore after almost 30 years, and more.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

Happy Gilmore 2 (July 25)

Adam Sandler returns to one of his most famous roles with Happy Gilmore 2. Set 30 years after the first movie, Happy is retired from golf and the father of four idiot boys and a beautiful daughter, who convinces him to return to the course to pay for her ballet school. This one’s going to be stuffed full of gags and cameos like a Thanksgiving turkey, with confirmed names ranging from Post Malone and Eminem to Eric Andre and Travis Kelce.

Trigger (July 25)

If you’re not into golfing, the 25th also brings the first season of Trigger, an exciting-looking Korean crime drama. South Korea is supposed to be a gun-free nation, but when a wave of illegal firearms starts showing up in the hands of organized crime, a former military sniper turned police detective must face off with an underground arms broker who has his own reasons for spreading chaos. The trailer looks pretty choice, so this could be a sleeper hit.

The Sandman: The Final Episode (July 31)

For the amount of time it took The Sandman to get a live-action adaptation, we would have thought Netflix would milk the series for a bit longer. It’s only one of the most iconic comic books of all time, after all. But the streaming world is mysterious, and it blew through the whole thing in two seasons. The final episode steps away from the travails of Dream to adapt the standalone story Death: The High Cost Of Living, in which the personification of mortality takes human form for a day each century.
