Ted Lasso season 4 is being filmed right now, and with the start of production has come a strong hint that Apple TV+ and Jason Sudeikis are planning for much more than just one final season for Lasso.
Cast for Ted Lasso reportedly signed three-season deals to match Jason Sudeikis’ new planned arc
After lots of speculation and rumors since Ted Lasso season 3 ended, it’s now finally official that season 4 is on the way.
But as production kicked off this week, we got word that there’s probably a lot more than one new season coming.
Nellie Andreeva writes at Deadline:
Original cast members Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt have closed their deals to return, joining Sudeikis as well as Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift whose options were picked up last August, kicking off the show’s comeback. The sextet are believed to have three-year pacts, corroborating the speculation that Sudeikis has a new three-season arc in mind for Ted Lasso‘s new chapter.
The three-year arc was a key part of Ted Lasso, and has its roots in co-creator Bill Lawrence’s common approach to TV.
Lawrence has talked often about his preference for three-season plans for his shows, including fellow Apple TV+ series Shrinking and Bad Monkey.
Now, it seems that a three-season plan is also in place for Ted Lasso’s return.
While it’s no surprise that Apple will want as many seasons of Ted Lasso as possible, it’s good to hear that Sudeikis and crew have a vision for what the series’ future will look like beyond season 4.
On the note of Ted Lasso, if you haven’t seen it yet, the cast of the show made an appearance at a Mumford & Sons performance in Kansas City that shows just how much fun they all truly seem to have together.
What’s your reaction to Ted Lasso likely having three additional seasons ahead? Let us know in the comments.
Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Silo, and Shrinking.
