iPadOS 26 is packed full of productivity upgrades, including a new windowing system that lets you use far more apps at once than before. And that newfound ability has made an overlooked ‘More Space’ setting significantly more useful.
‘More Space’ makes app windows more dense with content, perfect for iPadOS 26
No matter which iPad you’re using, iPadOS 26 has big upgrades for how many apps can be visible on-screen.
On my 13-inch M4 iPad Pro, I can have up to 12 windows visible simultaneously.
Previously, the iPad maxed out at 4 apps, and that required Stage Manager.
This newfound power, of course, creates a problem: screen real estate.
Apple is reportedly working on a larger, 18.8-inch foldable iPad, but rumors indicate it’s years away.
Current iPad models max out at 13-inch displays on the high end, and most models are in the 11-inch range.
Connecting to an external display will get you more space, but in lieu of that option, what can you do?
My answer: turn on the ‘More Space’ setting in iPadOS.
The setting isn’t new to iPadOS 26, but it does get significantly more useful thanks to the update’s new windowing capabilities.
On your iPad, open Settings ⇾ Display & Brightness ⇾ Display Zoom. From here you’ll see three options:
The ‘More Space’ setting makes a very simple change: iPadOS apps will show more content.
Essentially, ‘More Space’ shrinks UI elements so that more content fits on-screen at once.
It’s perfect for maximizing your iPad screen real estate. And that’s especially true if you want to run a bunch of windows all at once.
This setting isn’t necessarily best for users who struggle with reduced vision.
But if that’s not a problem for you, choosing ‘More Space’ can be a big productivity game-changer for the iPad—especially in iPadOS 26.
