Welcome to Indie App Spotlight. This is a weekly 9to5Mac series where we showcase the latest apps in the indie app world. If you’re a developer and would like your app featured, get in contact.
Everyone likes saving money when making a big purchase, and a lot of people would like to consider used goods. That said, the hassle can often be too much to deal with, so buying something new just feels easier.
Scout is a new app that makes searching Facebook Marketplace much easier, and can hopefully help you score some deals.
Top features
Scout aims to make browsing Facebook Marketplace as smooth as butter. It properly allows you to get notified for new postings, and actually alerts you to the things you’d like to see. Facebook falls short in this regard, likely so you need to spend more time in the app and thus view more ads.
You can create your own searches, and choose from a variety of filters to narrow things down. Then, you can configure alerts, that way you can be kept up to date with new listings. You can filter by location, mile radius, price, category, and keywords. Scott also sorts in reverse chronological order, showing you the newest listings first.
So, if you need an advanced tool for scouting down items on Facebook Marketplace, Scout should be able to handle it all – with a much nicer interface than Facebook themselves offers.
Download the app
Scout is available on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It supports iOS 18 and macOS 15 Sequoia and later. To utilize the app, you’ll need a subscription. Basic at $2.99/month is for casuals, and gets you 5 hourly alerts for your searches.
For an unlimited experience, you can get standard for $7.99/month, which gets you unlimited hourly alerts and up to 5 instant alerts – which means you’ll get notified as soon as something is posted for that search term. The app offers a 3 day free trial.
