NVIDIA today published the v580.65.06 as their first beta driver version in the new NVIDIA 580 Linux driver series.
The NVIDIA 580.65.06 beta driver for Linux brings a number of bug fixes, including for Vulkan and Wayland use. More excitingly is the NVIDIA R580 Linux driver bringing fifo-v1 Wayland protocol support. The fifo-v1 protocol is quite important and already supported by some of the Wayland compositors.
The NVIDIA R580 Linux beta driver also brings updated GPU clock value reporting to better match Windows behavior, fixes compatibility with Bigscreen Beyond Head Mounted Displays, enables RMIntrLockingMode by default to reduce stuttering particular for VR headsets, and various other fixes have been merged.
There is also a new experimental feature gated by “NVreg_RegistryDwords=RmEnableAggressiveVblank=1” to reduce time spent in the interrupt top half for low-latency display interrupts by deferring work until later.
