While the release of the final and stable version of iOS 26 is not so far, Apple is focusing on the developer beta version in the meantime to ensure that all the features are working perfectly. The tech giant has released the sixth developer beta of iOS 26. While the biggest new features were revealed in earlier betas, this version still includes a few noteworthy changes, such as fresh ringtones and performance tweaks.
If you are running on the Developer mode of iOS 26, then you can try it now, and public beta testers should see the update soon. What all new does it bring? Have a look.
iOS 26 Beta 6 Developer Mode: What’s New?
Ringtones: The standout addition in beta 6 is a set of new ringtones, all variations of Apple’s familiar “Reflection” tone. If you’ve kept your phone on silent for years, these might tempt you to switch the sound back on.
Camera App Direction Reversal: Earlier betas made a controversial change to the Camera app’s mode-switch gesture, reversing the swipe direction many users were used to. In beta 5, Apple added a settings toggle to let you revert to the old way. Now, with beta 6, Apple has decided to simply restore the original swipe behaviour by default.
Snappier App Launches and UI Tweaks: App animations feel quicker in this update, with smoother open and close transitions that make navigation feel more responsive. Apple’s “Liquid Glass” design language also gets subtle refinements, including more colour dispersion when switching tabs and updated effects for Lock Screen elements and toggles.
New Onboarding Experience: After updating, users are greeted with a refreshed startup guide that introduces iOS 26’s design changes. This includes an overview of Liquid Glass effects, new icon styles, and interface tweaks across system apps.
