Antigravity, a start-up incubated by Insta360, has just unveiled the A1, a drone with an 8k to 360 degree camera-a world premiere that promises to push the limits of immersion.
The A1 has a Fisheye double lens system, with two Insta360 X-series sensors mounted above and below the fuselage. There is also a couple of lenses at the front of the device, even if their exact function does not seem to have been revealed at the moment.

Antigravity seems to have paid a lot of attention to his algorithm stitching (“Couture” in French). This is a crucial element of 360 ° video systems: it is he who allows you to combine the flows of the two cameras in a single coherent video.
Even if the industry has made great progress at this level, this remains a substantial technical challenge, because it is not always easy to avoid visual artefacts and to hide unwanted elements – the drone chassis, in this case. The start-up claims, however, that its system of stitching “Advanced” makes it possible to completely hide the device to leave no blind spot in the field of vision.
The drone is accompanied by a helmet called vision (not to be confused with the Apple overpriced VR headset), which promises a particularly immersive experience. It is indeed equipped with a system of tracking which allows the pilot to look in any direction in real time. The left eye is also covered by a small external screen which allows other people to visualize the images at the same time.
In terms of piloting, Antigravity has opted for a pistol type controller, comparable to those that accompany most modern virtual reality headsets. It offers both conventional controls (joystick and buttons), but also gestural commands supposed to make the grip more intuitive.
Unfortunately, several important information is still missing. For example, Antigravity has not yet given details on optical specifications or the autonomy of the machine. To find out more, it will be necessary to wait for the official technical sheet, which will be revealed upstream of the exit, scheduled no later than January 2026.
