Bojangles, the major fast food chain known for its chicken, biscuits and tea in the south, is making its way east.
The company has just announced massive comeback plans that will see it open 20 new locations.
Over the next decade, Bojangles will open up 20 locations across all five boroughs in New York City.
Another 35 restaurants are also set for New Jersey.
Bojangles CEO Jose Armario praised the city the chain is expanding into in a press release.
He also hinted at the new culinary experiences Bojangles will give to those in the area.
Armario said: “It’s a monumental moment, now that we’re entering the New York metropolitan area again.
“The East Coast is craving the authentic, Southern charm that Bojangles delivers, and we’re excited to introduce locals to something new.
“The franchise groups behind this expansion are the exact partners we want to grow with – they bring the industry know-how, operational experience and leadership needed to grow Bojangles in a bustling market like New York.
“Supporting and leading our franchisees to success is fundamental to our mission as a brand, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what this next chapter holds.”
The first Bojangles set to open in New York City will be found in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, set to open this winter.
EXPANSION PLANS
The expansion is being led by Restaurant owner and operator Habib Hashimi and the Hashimi Holding Corporation.
It comes as part of a franchise deal for all 20 of the New York City restaurants.
Hashimi commented: “Bojangles has always stood out to me – from its delicious chicken, biscuits and breakfast to its incredible franchisee support system.
“I couldn’t be more proud to lead Bojangles’ growth in New York City.
“Our team has extensive experience running quick-service concepts across New York and Connecticut, and I’m confident residents will fall in love with the Southern flavours, hospitality and convenience Bojangles has to offer.”
This is a historic occasion for Bojangles, which hasn’t had a presence in New York since the 1980s.
Bojangles is based in Charlotte, Texas, and has over 830 spots in the US already.
Nearly half of these locations can be found in the state of North Carolina.
There are 348 locations in North Carolina alone, which accounts for 41% of the total Bojangles footprint.
