When Apple announces the iPhone 17 event next week, it will have a new place to spread the message.

As noted by South China Morning Post, Apple expanded its social media footprint in China over the weekend. The move comes just in time for Apple’s next product launch that will include iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, as well as Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3, and maybe even AirPods Pro 3.

Earlier this summer, Apple joined Threads in a very limited capacity after two years of not having an official presence on Meta’s Twitter/X clone.

Now it’s another social media service that readers in the United States may actually be familiar with: RedNote.

Xiaohongshu (called RedNote in English) is more than a decade old, but it garnered global attention in January while TikTok was temporarily banned in the US. The video sharing service provided relief for TikTok refugees when the fate of the other China-made social media platform was up in the air. One notable thing about the platform is how it allowed users in China to share content globally without a separate platform. For comparison, TikTok isn’t available in China, and other social media services require China-based phone numbers to sign up. RedNote supports Sign In with Apple and international phone numbers.

Now RedNote is home to Apple’s newest social media account. SCMP notes that Apple has collected more than 200,000 followers since Saturday. Unlike X and other places, Apple appears to actually be using RedNote for sharing posts already. See the first post below, or find it here:

Apple has also had an official presence for years on Weibo, including an account for Tim Cook.
