It is undoubtedly the most acclaimed series on Apple TV+. In a few episodes, Severance managed to establish itself as one of the most singular projects on the small screen, halfway between the science fiction story and the thriller. A success that production owes a lot to its executive producer and director: Ben poses. The actor and director was able to build an atmosphere of rare efficiency, create effects that hit the bull’s eye (the elevator) as much as directing the actors to cultivate this disturbing atmosphere.
Season 3 will nevertheless have to do without his services, Stiller wishing to devote himself to other projects. In an interview with the Los Angeles Timeshe said he was no longer involved in the realization of the series. He will no longer put any episode on stage and will only act at a distance as producer. “These things take time to materialize, and the more we age, the more we realize that we have no time unlimited”.
Quantity of other projects
Ben Stiller has a number of fire projects. He has to shoot next spring A survival film evolving during the Second World War. It will be a question of telling the story of an aviator shot in France and who is involved in spite of himself in the resistance. He also develops A new film, My stepfather and mecomedy in which he faced Robert Deniro.
He also works on a documentary on his parents as well as a Dramatic comedy for HBO that he must carry on the small screen. A well -filled schedule that no longer allows him to direct Adam Scott, Britt Lower and Tramell Tillman, while the mysteries surrounding Lumon Industries are lifted.
For the time being, the identity of his or his replacements has not been communicated. We imagine that the American platform already has some names in mind and that it will be for Apple TV+ to find the perfect candidate to take over.
Should we worry?
Seeing a creative who actively participated in the success of a series on departure is never very reassuring. However, the director wants to be reassuring. Arrested by the account Severance UpdatesFan of the series of the series on X, he explains that he still participated in the development phase of this season 3.
“I have worked full time in season 3 these last eight months and I do not intend to stop there. We have directors and an incredible team who create the series. I love to realize it and I can’t wait to find it one day. I am convinced that season 3 will be the best to date, because we continue to evolve”.
Note that Ben Stiller signs the realization of only 11 out of the 20 episodes in the two seasons. Other episodes are made by Aoife Mcardle, Uta Briesewitz, Samuel Donovan and Jessica Lee Gagné. So many directors who can be more widely used and who have some experience of the series and its aesthetics. Nothing too alarming, the series is a priori in good hands.
