The summer is nearly over, but there’s still time to score some pretty sweet deals on PC gaming hardware before the days get short and the nights grow long. Plus, with early Labor Day sales starting to appear, it’s a great time to save.

For example, I just spotted the Acer Predator X27U OLED gaming monitor for $489 at Newegg. That’s over $100 off the usual asking price of this 27-inch 1440p OLED gaming monitor, which is the biggest discount I’ve seen on it in months.

This is a good mid-range PC gaming monitor that’s a utility player thanks to its versatile specs. I know because I’ve been building gaming PCs since I was a kid and writing about them for over a decade, and if I was building one today the resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) on this Acer Predator would be pretty compelling because 1440p is a nice compromise between 1080p and 4K.

You get a nice little resolution boost over 1080p without demanding the computing power 4K requires, so that processing power can go into graphical quality and framerate instead. Plus, the HDR support ensures games and movies that take advantage of it will look lovely on the QD-OLED panel.

It’s a good monitor for high-speed gaming too thanks to its 240Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. And since the versatile port array includes both DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports, you can hook up your PS5 or Xbox Series X and count on taking full advantage of their variable refresh rate and HDR features.

Plus, it comes with a pair of built-in speakers and an adjustable stand that gives you a little wiggle room to adjust it to your liking. The pair of 5-watt speakers aren’t going to sound amazing, but I always appreciate a display with integrated sound because it means you don’t have to invest in pricey desktop speakers just to hear anything in your favorite games.

I don’t know if we’ll see this monitor on sale for cheaper until the holidays, so snag one now if you want it!
