The Lego group has just unveiled a new set inspired by the world of Charlie and the chocolate factorywhich should delight fans of the original work and collectors eager for pop culture.
This detailed model was imagined by Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, a duo of Italian fans, as part of the LEGO Ideas program. As a reminder, this is an initiative that allows fans to submit their own creations to transform them into official sets, provided that they win the community’s favors.
This set perfectly embodies the magical atmosphere imagined by Roald Dahl and transcribed by Tim Burton in his 2005 film, with Johnny Depp in the role of the eccentric Willy Wonka. It contains many iconic details, such as the famous chocolate waterfall (which can also be activated thanks to a dial), or the Wonkatania boat where the chocolate maker and the five winners of the famous gold ticket sail. All these characters are also included in the box, in the company of a pair of Oompa Lompas and Joe, the grandfather of the main character.
At the rear of this trendy set, which is full of decorations evoking more appetizing sweets than the other (special mention to barley sugar trees), we also find the Willy Wonka office as well as the Oompa Lompas workshop.
« Our inspiration was born from Charlie’s nostalgia and innocence and the chocolate factory – it was obvious that it should become a Lego set. The design took about four to five months, starting with an emblematic scene from the film. Thanks to new Lego parts, we were able to modernize design and take up challenges as perfecting the bridge or balance the aesthetics of the candy tree. The addition of a motorized waterfall makes the set really unique “Rejoice the two creators.
The set will be available in preview for LEGO Insiders members from December 15, directly on the brand’s website. It will then be accessible to the whole public from December 18 on this same site and in the Lego Stores, at a Price of € 219.99.
